How I Discovered my Passion in Grooming

After successfully pursuing a career in Sales, I found myself yearning for greater fulfillment, a different realm of accomplishment I hadn’t yet experienced. We constantly hear the expression, “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life,” and I began hunting for this euphoria. My love is and has always been animals. As a Mother of 9: 3 daughters, 1 son, and five “fur-babies” (dogs), it was easy to pinpoint my natural joy for nurturing. Especially for my fur babies, who despite were growing older like my children, continued to depend on me for all of their needs. One of the largest necessities being grooming. I knew I wanted to build a career in something I loved, so I took a leap of faith, quit my Sales career, and began my journey as a Dog Groomer.

My new career began as Dog Bather at a local Corporate – owned Grooming Salon. After a year of training and experience, I was promoted to Groomer. I began recognizing that many dogs were afraid of being groomed and feared the noises of the salon. Additionally, pet parents avoided dropping off their pets too early / late and felt hesitant in leaving their fur-babies to be locked in cages awaiting their turn. At the time, many pet parents requested that I come to their home to groom which unfortunately was against my former employer’s regulations. I knew then, there was a need for change.  A groomer that can accommodate both the dog’s and their pet parent’s needs was necessary. I felt the feeling I had been searching for and knew I could make this change happen. So I left my position at the salon and walked into the world of Entrepreneurship to begin House-Call Grooming.

Today, I have 8 years of Dog Grooming experience and my desire to provide a safe, comfortable groom to pets in their home environment has emerged. I can genuinely tell you that I love what I do! I have had an enormous amount of support from Pet Parents and their fur-babies and I look forward to continuing a long career and extending my fur family and friends!
